I've been a avid enthusiast in hobby pyrotechnics, rockets, explosives and chemistry since the age of 11.

I built this site to provide information to those sharing my interest and enthusiasm for the above topics. It's unfortunate that more and more, these innocent activities are associated with religious extremism and terrorism.

I am about as far away from a terrorist or extremist as you can get. I hold no particular strong religious belief and have no political affiliation or interest - I just enjoy experimenting with things that go bang, whoosh, pop and boom.

In my younger years I gathered information from a select few books which I came across at my local library. These books revolved around the chemistry of pyrotechnics and although complex in their delivery of information, actually illustrated quite simple reactions which I found fascinating. With a little innovation and numerous trips to different chemists, garden stores and hardware stores I managed to construct a number of pyrotechnic devices and rockets. This hobby grew into a much loved passion through my later teenage years.

With the explosion of the internet has come much information (or should I say disinformation) about explosives and pyrotechnics, some good - most not. To sift through the hundreds or possibly thousands of "anarchy sites" and copies of extremely dangerous files related to explosives and pyrotechnics is almost pointless.

Members of this web site can forget all about the other rubbish on the internet and learn. Many formulas, plans, reactions and instructions for things that go bang, whoosh, pop and boom are included. You will find a wealth of information and plans about pyrotechnics, rocketry, smoke bombs and explosives. Safety is comprehensively covered. The safety section contains guidelines, industry standards and military handbooks for handling various types of chemicals and explosives. Although seemingly over the top, one can never be to careful when dealing in potentially dangerous hobbies.

So where did the information on pyronfo.com come from? The information in the members section was largely written by industry professionals and commissioned by pyronfo.com. Some was gathered from private discussion boards and some taken from various text books and simplified and scaled down for home enthusiasts. The members area is being added to constantly and as of 9th oct 06 has over 1500 documents.
